- The Ph.D. Program of the University is, in general a 3-year program that emphasizes on development of the student’s capacity to conduct original research.
- The program encourages the student to work independently and also to be able to identify, analyze and solve basic and applied research problems effectively and creatively.
- The candidates may be admitted on full-time basis or part-time basis.
- The full-time students are required to work on the campus, while the part-time students may work from their respective work places, but will have to attend contact sessions conducted by the University.

Eligibility criteria for admission to the Ph.D. Program

A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree Program after a 4-year /8-semester bachelor’s degree Program or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree Program after a 3-year bachelor’s degree Program or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed
or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.
Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree Program should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. Program with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. Program. A member of the Academic/ Non-Academic staff of the ICFAI Group who satisfies eligibility qualifications may be considered for admission to the PhD degree as a part time student in accordance to the ICFAI Group notification no. ICFAI Group/08-18/001 dated 02.08.2018.
Research Aptitude Test will be for 2 hours and will test the knowledge of the applicant in broad areas of engineering/sciences/management/law/computer applications and research methodology.
- Research Methodology (50%) – broadly covers research methodology and quantitative aptitude aspects
- Functional Areas of Engineering/Sciences/Management (50%) – covers concepts and applications in Specific Domain.
- Candidates who secure 50% marks in aggregate will be declared as qualified in Research Aptitude Test (RAT)
- The applicants who qualify in the Research Aptitude Test will have to go through a personal interview at the University or Online, wherein the students’ motivation to pursue the program and the broad areas in which the student would like to pursue research will be discussed. The admission decision will be communicated after the interview process.
- The final selection for admission in Ph.D. is based on the performance in Entrance Test (70% weightage) and Interview (30% weightage) subject to scoring minimum marks in the Interview. However, if anyone is exempted from RAT in lieu of above-mentioned tests, then 100% weightage will be given to Interview only.
- Candidates who are declared qualified and are in merit will be required to produce all relevant original certificates including academic certificates and domicile certificate for verification at the time of registration. The original certificates will be returned after verification.
The applicants also have to submit “No Objection Certificate” from the current employer (in the prescribed format) at the time of registration
- Admission in a particular discipline will be available subject to availability of seats with the supervisors from the University.
- Applicants who qualify UGC (NET-Cat 1, 2,3) / CSIR (NET / JRF) / ICAR (JRF / SRF) examination / SLET / GATE / GPAT score card / ICAR (NET), SPM, Teacher Fellowship holder or passed M.Phil. Program (in regular mode only) are exempted from RAT (GATE / GPAT score should be valid at the time of admission).
- Unless otherwise specified by the University, the medium of instruction, course work, examination, question paper, synopsis and thesis will be English in all cases.
The Admission Modalities are with reference to the campus-based Ph.D. Program (Full Time / Part Time) Program offered by the ICFAI University, Jaipur. The medium of instruction is English.
Final year students applying for the programs are required to complete their examinations including practical examinations / viva, assignments before July 10, 2025. Such applicants will have to produce a certificate at the time of admission. The admission of applicants will, however, remain provisional until they produce mark-sheets establishing their eligibility. The last date for submitting the proof of eligibility is August 14, 2025, failing which the provisional admission will automatically stand cancelled.
The applicants will have to go through a personal interview at the ICFAI University, Jaipur campus. This is to determine the students’ attitude and motivation to pursue the program.
Original certificates and Domicile certificate should be produced for verification at the time of interview. The original certificates will be returned after verification. The admission decision will be communicated after the interview process. All the selected students will be required to pay the admission fee towards confirmation of seat.
There shall be a special provision for admission of students belonging to the State of Rajasthan in any course of the ICFAI University, Jaipur which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five) per cent of seats in each course/discipline subject to the students meeting the minimum eligibility requirements referred as above. Seats remaining unfilled under special reservations may be filled up by allotting the same to students belonging to Open Category.

Program Fee
Students have to pay the Program Fee at the beginning of each semester, as per the due dates indicated in the Student Handbook. The first semester fee is to be paid on or before July 20, 2025.
